The first thing gun owners need to do is understand that this is not going to stop. Political parties that support gun bans will not stop on their own, you need to stop them.
After everything the firearms community has been through over the last 10 years, there is only one way to stop these firearm bans, that is to elect a government that respects you as a law abiding citizen and respects your way of life. The only way to make this happen is to vote the current government out in an overwhelming way. Here's how we do this:
1. Decide which party will respect you and your property.
2. When an election is called, mark the date on your calendar or set reminders on your phone and make a commitment to yourself that you will vote. Many Canadians talk about voting, but when the day comes, they make excuses about why they're too busy or too tired to stand in line at a polling station. This is why voting numbers when compared to the population are so low in Canada. Fact, the last liberal government won a minority mandate with votes from 18% of the population. A relatively small group of people can elect a government in our system.
3. Take a few minutes to make a list of every child, parent, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, neighbor, hunting buddies, church friends, everyone that you know who is of legal voting age, so that you can talk to and motivate as many Canadians as you possibly can to vote.
4. Vote early. One of the ways you can reduce the likelihood that you don't vote is to show up for early voting. Chances are, you already know who you need to vote for, so there's nothing stopping you from voting early and bringing all of your friends with you.
5. Hold a voting party. Offer to host a gathering at your home for all of your friends and family that want to vote. Go down to the polling station as a group. Make it fun.
6. Ask those that you’ve convinced to vote, to make lists of their own. This is how we multiply our voting power. Even if you're in a riding that you think is safe, showing an overwhelming number of votes after an election gives the winning party a moral mandate to make the changes that you want. This allows them to carry out their platform without being accused of not representing enough Canadians.
The CCFR has sent out 3500 informational posters. Make sure that your range or local firearm business has put these posters up. If they claim they haven't received them, let the CCFR know, and they will send them posters for free. It's very important that we spread the word, we will need everyone. They can request posters at info@ccfr.ca
